Welcome to Explorapedia Portal to the Exploration of the Colorado Plateau
Explorapedia was established by Dr. Gary D. Alpert upon his retiring from Harvard and moving to Flagstaff in 2012. In addition to being a Professor at Northern Arizona University, Gary is also a Research Associate at the Museum of Comparative Zoology - Harvard.

About this website . . .
This is a fairly normal website but one with multiple personalities depending upon the situation and the need of the user. We use Wikipedia as a primary source
and framework, but as we add text and images of our own, we will expand on that framework, allowing the site usability to evolve. As the pandemic continues until
fading, patience will be a virtue. Use masks, keep social distancing, wash your hands frequently and stay well!
Iterations of this website will also be loaded periodically onto our laptops that we take into the field. Portions of the time that we spend in the wild, we may
not have access to the Internet, so as much information as possible will still be there for us.
The website will also serve as a study site in addition to all the other uses that websites provide.
Eventually we will set up a page for sending comments and/or email to the webmaster, and many thanks for your patience while this new (since early in 2019) site evolves. . . . The webmaster
